Ashley MacIsaac is a world-renowned Canadian fiddler from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, celebrated for his fiery playing style, genre-bending creativity, and larger-than-life stage presence. Raised in a community steeped in Celtic tradition, MacIsaac began playing the fiddle as a child and quickly emerged as a prodigy, mastering the traditional Cape Breton sound while pushing it into new, uncharted territory.

He broke into the national spotlight in the mid-1990s with his breakthrough album Hi™ How Are You Today? (1995), which went triple platinum in Canada and earned him a Juno Award. The record’s hit single, “Sleepy Maggie,” became an unexpected mainstream success, showcasing his bold fusion of Celtic fiddle with rock and pop influences.

Throughout his career, MacIsaac has collaborated with artists across genres—from Mary Jane Lamond and The Chieftains to David Byrne and Philip Glass—further cementing his reputation as an adventurous and innovative musician. Known for his technical mastery, foot-stomping energy, and unapologetic personality, he has been a key figure in bringing Cape Breton fiddle music to audiences around the globe.
